The Idea behind BerlinExpertDays e.V. i.G.
Why found an association?
What are our goals?
Each year, we aim to organize a technology-oriented conference in Berlin so that interested individuals can come together and share their interests and experiences. The conference has no commercial goals because independence from vendors and corporations is important to us. The individual foci of the yearly conferences will continually be adapted to the state of the art in our fields. Practical aspects of information technology receive our main attention.
There will be no hired talks at BerlinExpertDays. Submitted proposals for talks are evaluated and a selection is made by an independent programme committee with members from different companies and affiliations. We aim at a two-day conference with about 30 sessions. Sessions in the first conference will cover topics such as Cloud Computing, Java EE, Modular Systems (concepts, technologies, OSGi etc.), NoSQL, Spring, and Usability.
Which partners support BerlinExpertDays?
With JavaUserGroup Berlin Brandenburg (JUG BB) we are please to have a partner with strong community backing at our side.
What does it cost to attend the Conference?
The conference is being held for the first time this year. By founding a non-profit assocation we believe we have laid the foundation for a yearly event. It is our goal to keep attendance fees as low as possible, covering just the costs for the conference venue and catering. A small number of sponsoring companies is helping us to fund the website hosting.
What was the initial spark?
In 2010, we organized two very successful talks at Freue Universität Berlin (FU), held by prominent members of the open source community in the Java EE arena. Encouraged by the positive feedback from the audience, we decided to organize such kinds an event for a larger audience: the idea of BerlinExpertDays was born.
