Understanding source code with Software Maps

The ratio of time spend of reading code is about 10 times as much as the time it took to write it. So why don’t we invest more in the effective reading of source code? How can we learn to read the history and structure of software?

This talk describes the projects and experiences I have made in building software that helps us understand software source code. I will talk about my journey of 10+ years in building software visualization tools as a side project. This includes an IntelliJ Idea plugin I built which is downloaded 65000+ times. Also the web based service (www.codeiris.com) I built is shown that creates maps of git repositories.
